Mural Project Prospectus

The Allied Arts Association of Richland, Washington is seeking proposals for a series of three small murals on the west side of the Gallery at the Park building at 89 Lee Boulevard at the entrance to Howard Amon Park. The winning proposal will need to appeal to Allied Arts Association members and volunteers and to the greater Richland Community.

Theme: The theme is the 75 year history of the Allied Arts Association and the contributions it has made to the community. A comprehensive history of the Allied Arts is available in the Association library located at the Gallery at the Park, and artists are encouraged to utilize this resource. Submitted designs should also complement the building’s architecture and design.

Timeline: The deadline for design proposal submissions is July 15, 2022. The winning proposal will be selected by August 15, 2022. Murals are to be completed by October 31, 2022.

Logistics: Murals are to completely cover the three boarded openings on the west side of the gallery building at 89 Lee Blvd. The openings are 39”w X 76”h, 48”w X 37”h, and 36”w X 82”h and are currently covered in plywood with exterior paint. Please see included photo’s. Preparation of the surfaces is the responsibility of the artist. Artist should be prepared to install the mural by themselves or with assistance they have contracted within the allotted time period and budget. The finished surfaces must be durable and weather resistant.

Award: $3000 total and must include all material costs (up to $500 may be requested in advance of completion for materials with receipts).

Submission: Proposals are to be submitted to the attention of the mural selection committee at info@galleryatthepark.org. There is no cost to apply.

1. Detailed color images of the proposed designs (.jpg or .png) and a description or explanation of the meaning of the proposed murals.

2. Image examples of previous work, including title, media, size, year, and location (if applicable).

3. A CV and artist's statement
