First Friday Art Tours

First Friday Art Tours, or as we call them First Fridays, is a series of events we put on each year in collaboration with local businesses and arts organizations who share our passion for the arts in our community. First Fridays, are as the name suggests, on the first Friday of every month from April thru October.

Barbara Bates

My love of painting began as a child and has come full circle back to the intuitive nature of creating.  Learning to manipulate with tones, contrast, color saturation, light and shadows is an endless adventure, exciting and satisfyingEvery aspect of creativity whether it be oil painting or ceramics (my two personal favorites) brings joy to my life experience.

“To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.” Kurt Vonnegut

Mary Delmas Robertson

 I paint, therefore I am.

Kate Watson

My name is Kate Watson.  I have been painting my entire life.  My Grandmother, an accomplished artist herself, has been my only teacher.  Over the past several years I have experimented with many mediums but have found myself most comfortable with watercolor, gauche and acrylic.  Generally I focus on painting the glorious skies we have around here but this year decided to do something a little different.  Instead of my typical skies, I decided to work from photos I have taken on our family outings.  We spend most of our time on the river or in the mountains and my pieces reflect that.  I think many people get caught up in what is considered

"modern art" but when it comes down to something they want in their homes, I believe they like to see what may be a reflection of their own lives.  We live in a beautiful place, with the mountains behind us and the rivers in front of us and I truly hope my art lets you bring some of those things right into your own home.

Benjamin Dickinson

My name is Ben Dickinson. An artist from Walla Walla, I paint with acrylics on canvas and salvaged materials. I enjoy painting landscapes and abstracts, as well as pieces that combine both styles with bold colors that elicit a feeling of place— real or imagined.
